Being at a progressive type guild can absolutely be fun. It is entirely what you make of this. The requirement is only time. I was able to raid something similar to monday – thursday 8pm-12am. And that the raiding part. You have to commit all sorts of period apart from the base 16 hours each week of just raiding. Back when I had been playing WoW Classic Gold heavily I probably would play like 40 hours a week and absolutely loved it. In hindsight I wish I hadn’t wasted so much time onto a video game, but at the time it was something which made me happy. At this point I wouldn’t recommend anyone get to a hardcore guild, but I’ve given up gaming completely because I regret the time that I spent not living my life in a more effective manner.
I was in a naxx 40 clearing guild back in high school, I raided for 5 hours on voice chat. Our guild was a merger involving a newbie molten core guild and 8 elitist ex hardcore men, I was in the newbie guild raiding two days weekly. They advised us you either raid 7 days per week or we kick. So I stayed and within 3 weeks we had been draining c’thun weekly and moving onto naxx.
Most of this is wrong. The raids in vanilla could be cleared in 1 evening MC/BWL/Ony or AQ/Naxx. You won’t go back to MC/BWL once Naxx is outside. Speed runs for MC are below 20 minutes, BWL beneath 30. You can create at least 50-100g a hourso assuming you don’t have any gold already you can farm up your consumables for the week in a matter of 1-2 hours. You can maintain a hardcore raid and compete. ZG has some fantastic things so perhaps another hour per week there until you have what you need. The world bosses do not have loot thats worth doing them for and are killed really fast by a mixture of individuals from different guilds.
You don’t NEED alts to be in a high guild like you do on live, the meta is not changing and you don’t need to run breaks because there is time to gear up involving the raid releases and there’s just one difficulty.Being in a casual guild is what will take a ton of time. Wiping over and over, learning the struggles, attempting to do things without the right consumables that people refuse to get. You may spend 2-3 nights per week progressing or not progressing into a casual guild, while the hardcore guilds will smash right through night 1 and be done with it til reset.
